FAQ

  • Virtual appointments are an option for follow up consultations. In order for you to receive the most thorough care possible, initial consultations are only performed in-person.

Patients must be located in Alberta at the time of any virtual or phone visits.

  • Yes! Dr. Pilon routinely makes use of functional gut, hormone and nutrient testing - among others.

Functional laboratory testing can often provide valuable information, but it is not necessary for every patient.

Testing recommendations are individualized and based on clinical need rather than predetermined packages or protocols.

  • No. In Alberta, Naturopathic Doctors may use non-prescription interventions such as vitamin and mineral supplements, herbal supplements, and over-the counter medications. However, patients on medications are always welcome. Dr. Pilon has extensive experience ensuring safe and effective integrative treatment for patients taking medication from their prescribing doctors.

  • Testing prior to your first visit is not necessary. However, if you have had tests done by another provider, bringing those with you can help us get started more quickly on the path to a custom plan for you.

Dr. Pilon has extensive experience in interpretation of routine blood, urine and stool testing and will incorporate any previous results into your customized plan.

  • The best way for us to access prior records from your medical providers is to use your MyHealth Alberta account. Naturopathic Doctors in Alberta are not part of the publicly funded system, and as such cannot see records from your medical doctor on Netcare.

  • Unfortunately, no. Dr. Pilon’s practice is private pay, though your third party insurance may cover all or a portion of your care. Check with your insurer to understand your specific coverage.
